Release Notes: released!<cross what=”fingers”>Just in time for the ISO spin</cross>, the Fedora Core 5 Release Notes should be ready in the following tangy fruit flavors:
(I apologize if I left out a name; these were the ones on the CVS commits.) Coming soon to the Web version:
In looking over the notes, we’re aware that certainly there are some organizational challenges that go along with spreading the responsibility for the relnotes across the community. We have already committed to revamping the organization before FC6 to make it easier for everyone to participate and pull this data into a helpful shape. But it’s obvious that, for the most part, the quality was able to be retained and even in some cases improved — certainly the quantity was! We also appointed a new relnotes editor-in-chief, Bob Jensen, who is taking the reins with a firm hand. More than ever before, I think we can safely ask the question, “Did you check the release notes?” To all the community members who helped gather and shape them, well done. |
Oops!So I kinda got lost in the moments, even the boring ones. But I learned something tonight::
All in all, a pretty boring show, but interesting upsets. I am a little sad that “Brokeback Mountain” didn’t take away the Best Picture Oscar, since it was my favorite. Well, actually, it was the only nominee we were able to see in the theater. I wonder how much of the “Crash” victory was due to its second life on DVD? I hear many of the AMPAS voters don’t even see the movies in the daggone theater. How’s that for irony, especially with all the proselytizing they did to get us out to the big screen? |
Phil! One of my favorite actors finally got the notice he deserves. When I first saw him in “Boogie Nights” and “Hard Eight,” I was riveted. And did you see him plant one on Meryl Streep? Hoo-ah. |
In Memoriam. Why can’t the Oscar producers figure out a way to honor the deceased luminaries without the Applause-O-Meter? I always feel bad for the sound editor no one’s heard of, who, likely as not, was a wonderful guy who deserved some applause for his work. |
Altman! The rebel finally gets his day on the dais. It’s about frickin’ time. |
The hard sell.Look, we know box office is taking a hit, but it’s not the audiences that AMPAS needs to cajole. It’s not the downloaders you need to worry about; they weren’t going to the theaters anyway. It’s the exhibitors. Get them to start actually (1) cleaning their theaters, (2) policing their theaters, and (3) making it an enjoyable experience for couples and families. |
Rachel!Pregnancy suits her. I have been looking forward to The Fountain for the last six months. Eleya bought us the book not long ago and it is fantastic. |
Heavy, man.I guessed the “Best Live Action Short” based on the fact that a gun was involved in the clip. It seemed like a heavier clip than the others, and I haven’t seen any of them (sorry). For some reason this seems like a “heavy issues” year. |
Dolly!Dang, that woman can still sing her ass off! HALLELLUJAH! Nope, I have nothing trenchant to say or report. I’m just another fool with a laptop. It’s my server and I’ll do what I want to. |
