How to live up to a name.

Well, you could make an amazing movie like The Incredibles, which Eleya and I saw in the theaters and just bought on DVD yesterday. And somehow in between, I managed to forget just how darned great this movie really is. You have to love a movie that bucks the going trend in liberal Hollywood by subtly preaching that, in the words of one of the characters, â??when everyone is super, no one will be.â? In other words, we shouldnâ??t lower the bar to match lowered expectations of what is exceptional, because by doing so we render the very concept meaningless. The exceptional is what inspires us and makes us dream, like sending three men through the vaccuum of space to the moon in a tin can with a couple radar screens, trigonometry, and some velcro.

Thereâ??s no point summarizing this film. JUST GO BUY IT NOW. You will enjoy it again and again; youâ??ll laugh and cry (mostly laugh), and thereâ??s some great bang-up action scenes in between.

The merely adequate just got merely adequater.

My new title came from a funny (yet trenchant) quote from Steve Weinberg that I found in the QOTD machine. On my own site, no less! Which just goes to prove that self-aggrandization can only end in self-cannibalization. Oh, and tears.

An expert is a person who avoids the small errors while sweeping on to the grand fallacy.
