Linux, musical road-dogging, and daily life by Paul W. Frields

If you tend to mirror the latest and greatest changes from rawhide and don’t have the benefit of an rsync mirror near you, this script might come in handy. It parses out a directory of .rpm files and eliminates duplicate files based on the build times of the RPM’s. I didn’t feel like working in an intelligent parser of versions, and besides, I figured the build times — since they (A) originate with Red Hat and, in all probability, are based on an NTP-synchronized build host’s clock; and (B) should be able to trump version numbers that occasionally don’t obey common sense (or my sense) — made perfect sense.
