Regarding Matt Asay’s interview of the new Red Hat CEO, I’d just like to say, is it really so surprising that he’s an open source true believer? I don’t naively think that a current CEO gets to simply hand-pick and transplant a replacement, but certainly they get to weigh in on the matter. Do people honestly think Matthew Szulik would leave a company in which he’s invested so much time and spirit in the hands of someone who was going to up-end its guiding philosophy? Either the journalists (and “joinalists”) are too cynical, or I’m too optimistic. Maybe both.
Think being an open source guy is too touchy-feely? Well, apparently the new guy’s a bit of a scrapper. Cool!
